Susan Biggart age 81 of Perry passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry IA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry IA. Memorials will be given to the family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home.
Susan Elizabeth Biggart was born on June 8, 1935 at Guthrie Center, IA to James Bernard and Faye Ellen (Herron) Shank. She graduated from Scranton High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Biggart at Omaha, NE on January 26, 1959. She attended school to become an L.P.N. and then worked at the Rowley Masonic Home for 25 years before retiring.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Susan loved her family, going on family vacations and she went to all of her grandchildren’s ball games, swim meets and dance recitals. She also enjoyed going to Phoenix to be with her sister Betty and going to flea markets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, 2 sons, James and Charles Biggart, sister, Irene Scheuermann and brothers, John, George and Sammy Shank.
She is survived by her son, Douglas (Terri) Biggart, Phoenix, AZ, a daughter, Shelly (Gary) Thompson, Perry, IA, 2 daughters-in-law, Joni Biggart, Des Moines, IA and Tammy Biggart, Scranton, IA, 10 grandchildren, Jamie, Jon ( Stacy), Justin (Michaela), Mackenzie, Shannon, Mark, Christopher, Sean (Kate), Shanon and Alex, 9 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Betty Shank, Council Bluffs IA, and Isai (John) Sipe, Guthrie Center, IA, brother, Jim Shank, Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews.
