Sidney “Sid” Clair Cox was born on January 11, 1940 in Ogden IA to Ervin Fletcher and Bernice Ina (Delaplain) Cox. Sid was a member of the Bagley United Methodist Church, where he was also baptized. He attended Bagley High School. He was united in marriage to Linda Lou May on October 21, 1961 at the Bagley United Methodist Church, celebrating 57 years of marriage. He worked for Panora Farmers Coop, he drove truck for PTI Trucking in Perry, and retired from Foxworth Galbraith in Phoenix, AZ. After retirement he moved to Lake Ponderosa in Montezuma, Iowa where he enjoyed the many friendships that he made.

Sid was a member of the Panora and Bagley Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed doing yard work, traveling to Arizona in the winters where he never missed a happy hour, taking “road trips” with his wife around Iowa, and driving around surveying the countryside. Google or GPS had nothing on Sid when it came to mile markers, distances, and directions. He loved cheering on his Iowa State Cyclones where you could always find him in his cardinal and gold. In addition, Gramps loved spending time with his family.

In death he rejoins his parents Ervin and Bernice and an infant sister, Ina Cox.

Left to cherish Sid’s memory are his wife Linda, Ankeny, IA, children, Jeffery (Traci) Cox Fredericksburg, VA and Darin (Stacy) Cox, Ankeny, IA. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Gramps”. Grandchildren, Kory, Kiel (Lisa), Carson, McKenna, Cooper, Quinn, step-grandchild, Austin, an expected great grandson in January 2020, sister, Erva Lu Hutchings, Boone, IA, nephew, David Huffman, Boxholm, IA, nieces, Rheanne Thies, Boone, IA and Lynette McPherson, Boone, IA, a past daughter-in-law, BeKay Fields and an uncle, Clifton (Charlene) Cox, Ogden, IA.
