Robina Leonard, age 83 of Guthrie Center and formerly of Perry, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center, IA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be prior to the service on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:30 at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. A private family graveside will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry at a later date. Memorials will be given to her family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home.
Robina Jeanette Leonard was born on May 2, 1934 near Adel, IA to Alton Linn and Beulah Adel (Theobald) Royer. She attended Country School and then graduated from Washington Township School with the class of 1953. After graduating, she attended McPherson College at McPherson, KS. She was united in marriage to Gary Lee Leonard at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren on June 1, 1956. She taught at Washington Township and Yale Schools. She later worked in the Dietary Department at Dallas County Hospital.
She was a member of the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren and the Iowa Angus Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to craft shows, gardening and raising chickens. She especially enjoyed sewing for her family and excelled in making torn jeans wearable again for her grandchildren.
In death, she rejoins her husband Gary Leonard, parents, Alton and Beulah Royer.
Left to cherish Robina’s memory are her daughters, LaRoyce Kress (Terry) of Redfield, IA, Lynnette Hughes (Randy) of Bagley, IA, five grandchildren, Justin Kress (Dea), Tyler Kress, Ashley Kress, Courtney Hughes, Cody Hughes and fiancé Dawn, two great grandchildren Hunter and Shay Kress, her sister, Linda (Don) Fairchild, McPherson, KS and several nieces and nephews.
