Raymond Roberts, age 78 of Perry, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his home in Perry, Iowa. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA. Visitation will be on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Memorials will be given to the family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. 

Raymond "Ray" Ronald Roberts was born on October 22, 1940 at McIntire, IA to Clarence F. and Sarah E. (Norman) Roberts. He attended school at Hampton, IA community schools and Des Moines Area Community College. He served his country in the Army from March 31, 1958 to March 6, 1961, attaining the rank of Spec 4. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Homeister at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry on June 23, 1990. He worked at Hampton Memorial Stone Works doing lettering, Oscar Mayer as a meat cutter and United Brick & Tile as a maintenance technician, retiring in 1998.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, camping, fishing, traveling in every state except for two, also including Canada and Mexico. They also wintered in Harlingen, TX for many years.

In death he rejoins his parents, Clarence and Sarah Roberts, brother, William Garrett, son, Ray Dean Roberts in infancy, sister, Imogene Cordt and her husband, Richard Cordt.

Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his wife Dorothy Roberts, Perry, IA, children, Russell (Julie) Roberts, West Fargo, ND, Lorrie (Jerry) Erwin, Scranton, IA, Laura (Toby) Thompson, Madrid, IA, Penny (Brian) Derry, Collins, IA, Steve (Connie) Niemeyer, Ladora, IA, Rick (Sue) Niemeyer, Grimes, IA and Susan (Allen) Govig, Madrid, IA , grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Roberts, BJ and Kevin Derry, Brandi and Candi Wenger, Andy Smith, Kerrie Davis, Mandi Niemeyer, Alec and Nick Niemeyer and Abbie and Thomas Govig, great-grandchildren, Breaunna Wenger, Hunter Hackler, Elle Wenger, Ashleigh and Sulli Smith, Delaina Derry, Trent Derry, AJ Smith and Case and Beau Peterson.
