Myrtle "Kaye" Beard, age 89 of Perry, IA, was surrounded by her loving family when she went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Perry Lutheran Home Chapel on the 2nd Floor. A private family burial will be held at the Ankeny Memorial Gardens in Ankeny, IA. Memorials will be given to EveryStep Hospice and Perry Lutheran Home Activities and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
Myrtle "Kaye" Kathryn Beard was born on February 8, 1930 in Lexington, KY to Frank and Irene (Owens) Queen. She attended the Nazareth School of Nursing and Iowa State University with a degree in Psychology. She was united in marriage to Paul D. Beard and later divorced. She worked at the VA Hospital in Kentucky, Director of Nursing at University of Kentucky, Mercy Medical Center and Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA.
Kaye was an artist, loved painting with watercolor, oil paints and pastels. She had a passion for gardening and raising Chihuahuas and Teacup Poodles. While at the Perry Lutheran Home she enjoyed reading and going through all the magazines and visiting all her friends.
In death she rejoins her parents, Frank and Irene, sister, Gladys and a daughter, Paula.
Left to cherish Kaye’s memory are her children, Donna Jean and husband Dave, Michelle, David and Loretta, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, brother, Charles and family, many nieces and nephews and her Perry Lutheran Home Family.
