Marvin Janis, age 76, of Ute, Iowa and formerly of Perry passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be at a later date in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry, Iowa. Memorials will be given to the family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Marvin Leroy Janis was born on August 6,1941at Omaha, NE to Marvin R. and Mary Elizabeth (Goldstedt) Janis. He was united in marriage to Maxine Anne Alexander at Kingsley, Georgia on September 13, 1965. He worked for the City of Perry in the street department and as assistant public works director. He also worked in the water treatment plant where he retired in 2006.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Perry. He very much enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, slow-pitch softball, reading, watching western movies, and listening to old country music
In death he rejoins his wife Maxine, parents, Marvin and Mary.
Left to cherish Marvin’s memory are his, children, Kevin Janis and his wife Tonya, Cortney Janis and his wife Jennifer, Vannessa Janis, grandchildren, Travis, Ryan, Hunter, McKenzi, and Taylor Janis, siblings, Mary (Gary) Jensen and Lucille Swenson, also many nieces and nephews.
