Marie Bailey-Borst age 88 of Adel, IA entered Heaven to meet her Lord on June 16, 2017.  Funeral services will be Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Perry, IA. Visitation will be Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry, IA. Burial will take place at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, IA. Memorials will be given to the family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home.


     Marie Rose Godwin Bailey-Borst was the 8th child and 4th daughter of Harry and Viola (Dickey) Godwin and was born on March 29, 1929 at Panora, IA. She married Kenneth Bailey on June10, 1949 and they had 3 sons. She then married Forest Jackson on September 4, 1979 and Kenneth Borst on February 16, 1989. Marie graduated from Guthrie County High School and Des Moines Area Community College with certification as a secretary and certified nursing assistant.   Marie retired from the Masonic Lodge Care Center.


     She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning the food she grew, working with plastic canvas, and quilting. 


     Left to cherish Marie’s memory are two sons Dan (Vivian) Bailey Indianapolis, IN, Del (Brenda) Bailey of Adel, IA, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one brother Bobbie (Mary) Godwin of Johnston, IA, sisters Glesna Coulter Adel, IA, and Lavon (Lloyd) Linn Ankeny, IA.  She was preceded in death by her 3 husbands, son Kenneth D. Bailey, 2 great grandchildren Austin M. Powers and Melody L. Bailey, 3 sisters Esther I. Niemela, Alice E. Madren, Lois M. Van Sickle, seven brothers, Earl I., Dick T., David D., Donald J., Paul H., William F., and Glen G. Godwin.
