Lorraine Winger, age 81 of Perry, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Rowley Masonic Community in Perry, IA. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry, IA. Memorials may be given to the Perry Public Library and Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. 

Lorraine F. Winger was born on January 20, 1937 at Duluth, MN to Carl Alvin and Marian Lucille (Greer) Johannessen. She attended school at Alborn High School in Alborn, MN. She also attended college at Mankato, MN and the Duluth Business University taking various courses. She was united in marriage to Ivan R. Winger at Duluth, MN on December 28, 1960. She worked at various secretarial jobs and was a trust officer of Brenton Bank in Perry. Lorraine was a member of B.P.W., serving as president and was the secretary for the Weise Foundation.

She was a member of the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and was president of the congregation. She enjoyed knitting, reading, crocheting, poetry and photography. She had one of her photographs featured in the Raccoon Valley Bank calendar.

In death she rejoins her parents, Carl and Marian Johannessen and a sister Ruth Okronglis.

Left to cherish Lorraine’s memory are her husband Ivan, son, Eric Alan (Melissa) Winger, grandchildren, Zachary, Tessa and Hayle Winger, a brother, Clifford Johannessen and two sisters, Muriel Johannessen and Virginia Ludwig.
