Jason "Jake" Durbin, age 42 of Woodward, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 1:00 to 7:30 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Memorials may be given for the benefit of Jake’s children and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
Jason "Jake" Carroll Durbin was born on February 8, 1976 at Jefferson, IA to Donavon LaDel and Carolyn Kay (Hanysh) Durbin. He attended the Perry Community Schools with the class of 1995. After graduating he drove truck hauling grain for local farmers. Then in 1997 he started Durbin Auto Body in Perry and later added Jason's Towing to the business in 2007. He was united in marriage to Emily Belgarde.
Jake was very involved with auto racing from 1997 to 2015 and was known as "Jake The Snake" because of his ability to move between cars. He qualified for Super Nationals for 8 years in a row and won numerous track championships.
In death he rejoins his maternal grandparents, Carroll and Joyce Hanysh, paternal grandparents, Veronice and Lynn Durbin, uncle Donnie Hanysh and aunt Rebecca Durbin.
Left to cherish Jake’s memory are his parents, Donavon and Carolyn Durbin, Perry, IA, daughter, Alexis Leann Durbin and her mother Crystal Schlaefle, Bondurant, IA, son, Grady Donavon Durbin, Perry, IA, sister, Tracey (Daryle) Bennett and their children, Jesse, Cole and Kaydee Bennett, partner, Jennifer Clausen, Woodward, IA, an uncle, Kevin (Doreen) Durbin of Jefferson, IA and Kevin’s children, Kim (Ken) Roswell, Dumont, SD and Matthew Durbin, Jefferson, IA.
