Richard Bailey age 87 of Perry passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Spring Valley Retirement Community in Perry Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 08, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill at Perry Iowa. Memorials will be given to St. Croix Hospice and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home.
Richard William Bailey was born on April 28, 1929 at Woodward, Iowa to William Hiesel and Bertha Amber (Shaw) Bailey. He graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1947. He was united in marriage on June 15, 1949 to Orma Ann Carpenter and was the proud father of Rhonda and Sandra. On January 31, 1977 was united in marriage to Sally Ann Tingwald. He worked at Iowa Electric Light and Power Company all of his life, ending his career as the Foreman.
He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church for many years and Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 65 years. He was a huge Cub's fan and he enjoyed golfing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Sally Bailey and Orma Burkhart, daughters, Sandra Bailey Miller PHD and Susan Tingwald Cullinan, brother, Robert Bailey and a sister, Marie Harris.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda (Kent) Knepper of St. Petersburg, FL, Ann Mathews of Indianapolis, IN, Jim Tingwald of Indianapolis, IN, Jane (Ron) DeLay of Indianapolis, IN, and John (Lori) Tingwald of Boone, IA, grandchildren, Andrea (Dan) Negrete, Leslie Brosig, Keisha Knepper, Molly (Ron) Bureta, Megan Mathews, Josh (Jessica) DeLay, Cayce (Caryn) Cullinan and Ben DeLay and great grandchildren, Carmen Negrete, Alaina Negrete, Barrett Brosig, Rhidian Brosig, Wylder Bureta, Jack DeLay, Nolan DeLay, Ryder Cullinan, Brad DeLay and Sam DeLay.
