Irene Fazel Howard died at 1:31 a.m. on Tuesday January 3, 2012 at the Perry Lutheran Home.  Visitation is Monday January 9th at the Carris Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m  followed by graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Violet Hill Cemetery. 
 
She was born on November 19th, 1917.  Her parents are Stacey Emmet Rhoads and Mabel Ellen Chapman.  Irene was preceeded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Stacey Levi, and a brother Richard Rhoads; also an infant daughter, Judith Ann Fazel,  husband Earl Fazel and second husband, Archie Howard.
 
Survivors include a son, Earl J. Fazel, two daughters Karen Sue Canby and Gloria Cole; also stepchildren Brian Tracy Howard, Mary Jo Manley and Elizabeth Susan Budd; and three sisters Mary Hohanshelt, Alice Santi and Nellie West.
 
Irene belonged to the Eastern Star.  She especially loved her family, gardening, music and making scrapbooks.  She worked for Woolworth Dime Store, and Spurgeons in Perry, Iowa and for Kresge's in Des Moines, Iowa.  In her retirement years she enjoyed meeting and visiting friends at Hy-Vee Resturant.
