
Catherine Bales age 97, of Perry and formerly of Sioux City, IA died on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Dallas County Hospital in Perry. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2011 from 12:00 to 2:15 p.m. at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in the Irene Barbara Lunde Chapel and then resume from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Memorials may be given to Child Evangelism of Sioux City, IA and may be left at the Funeral Home.
Catherine Bales was born on October 2, 1914 at Lemars, IA to Robert and Margaret (Learmonth) Duff. She united in marriage to Verle Bales in Sioux City on October 1, 1939.
Catherine worked many jobs to bring in extra money. She worked in a grocery store, did waitress work, and cleaned the Bagerow Building in Sioux City. Later on in life she attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City and received her certification to be a Nurses Aide. Her best job was as a Nurse Aide at Sunrise Manor in Sioux City. Her pride and joy of this relayed to the people she helped and worked for. She was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City.
Catherine was preceded in death by husband, Verle Bales, parents, Robert and Margaret Duff, 3 brothers, Adam, Robert and James Duff, and 2 sisters, Margaret Duff and Robina Littlejohn.
Survivors include her son, Paul Bales (Merrilee), Perry, IA, daughter, Sharon Lyon (Darrol), Chico, CA, grandchildren, Todd Lyon, San Jose, CA, Eric Lyon, Chico, CA, Aaron Bales, Waukee, IA, and Ashlee Bales, Perry, IA, great grandchildren, Zac and Cruz Lyon, San Jose, CA, and Elizabeth and Elsie Lyon, Chico, CA.
